     It is with great dismay that I reveal that I have not kept up on the latest in MAC’s newest collection releases. i say this with one exception: MAC’s Too Fabulous Collection.

     I had been crossing off the days before this launched, and was quite confused when I didn't see the usual fanfare on the internets that usually surrounds a MAC Release.

     For instance, blogs I typically turn to for my daily cosmetics fix such as Temptalia, had posted a promo release blurb, but didn't update with pics as the drop date came closer. To me, this just meant that the items in the collection must not be all that grand. But c’mon, these are Cremesheen Glasses people! Permanent! Why no crazy hoopla?!

     Anyway, i digress. As March 4th approached, i planned my journey to MAC with great precision. Although not the closest, the MAC store in Downtown San Diego is my favorite. With a new clean interior, and a friendly staff. I called the day before and asked if they would have the Too Fabulous line out and ready the next day. To which the MUA’s reply was, “yes”. With that, we headed to SD.

     Once i excitedly entered the store, i was immediately startled by the lack of merchandising on this particular collection. I mean, NOTHING was out.

     So I asked the SA who was working. She had helped me out the last time I was there for my xmas haul too. i asked her where the collection was, and she told me that they were instructed not to sell the collection until the official drop date, which was two days later.

Grrrrrrr!!!!!!

     When i told her what I was told on the phone, she immediately apologized and stated that who I had spoken to, was in fact, a traveling freelance artist, who basically didn't know her head from her ass!

     So in the end, I left with some items, but not anything I had intended to buy.

    They told me I could order over the phone with them, and they would ship it to me for free. So I may do that.

    What I did pick up was: Margin Blush, Oak lip liner, Big Baby Plushglass, and my go to moisturizer, Moisturleush Cream.

     Oh well.

Then take a look below! I had no idea I had accumulated this much in the way of bronzers, highlighters, and blushes. I just showed my boyfriend. Our exchange went like this:

“Babe, look at my blush collection!”

Reply: “ You mean, OBSESSION?”

My reply: “Crap. That bad huh?”

* damn.*

It is with great determination that I diligently hunt for my HG blush, bronzer, highlighter.

Safe to say, and the average sane person would, I’m pretty sure all of these items can do the job just fine. Perhaps its even safer to say that…oh…dare I? I can STOP buying blushes?!

But I can’t just yet. I made a call to my local Sephora to take advantage of the CARGO 50% off sale, and I currently have Prague on hold till tomorrow morning! Ok, I’ll pick it up, and that’s it. No more.

I promise?

PS: Pardon the hair on the carpet. Brushing locks before bed then snapping pics with a 10 mp capability is not smart. Ever. Nite!

I have a cold.

Woke up today, can’t seem to fight this cold coming on. I’m pretty sure I caught this germ while perusing the exhibits at the museum with my little brother the other day. Every time I go to a public place with an abundance of children around, I get sick! Typically, I am very good about using my hand sanitizer, but I must have dropped the ball somewhere between Darwin and the Egyptian Pyramid 3D show.

Damn.

While feeling yucky these past two days, it made me wonder about cosmetics. I went to run errands yesterday, and when I left the house, I put on not one stitch of makeup. My position being that since i felt like crap, people would understand why i look like crap. And that rationalization was ok to me! However, i was also well protected by a rather large black veil i like to call my Dior Overshine Glasses. Ask me to take those off, and I may have to kick you in the shin, thank you very much!

So, here’s to feeling icky, and not caring if I look icky!

PS: Got my NYX round lipsticks in from CherryCulture! Now I'm in bed playing dress up. Bye :-)

A Possible Fix for my Super Duper Dry Skin??

    So if you have been watching my vids, you may know that I suffer from extremely dry skin. I mean, its so dry, i even have eczema. I have for years tried many different creams and lotions in hopes of curing my scaly dry skin.

     Typically though, my facial skin doesn't act up much. During most seasons, I maintain the same skincare routine. But this winter, of this year (and last), of this time in my short lil life, I CANNOT keep my face moisturized!

     *sigh*

     Every morning i have been waking up with a face that feel like my skull outgrew my skin! And keep in mind, this includes my lips, which are also so dry, i fear even yawning when first rising each morning in fear of cracking my lips wide open.

     My nightstand is currently full of creams that promise to replenish what i seem to have misplaced somewhere around, oh, idunno, August?

     My most recent discovery, was actually a suggestion given by the great Aubrey (fafinette??) from YouTube. She was using MAC’s Moisturelush cream both day and night for her super dry skin. So I picked this up last week, and have followed the same routine, and I am happy to report………. I love this stuff!

     I wasn't used to the creaminess at first,but after a week, i gotta say, its a winner! No breakouts or irritation. And I don't feel like a California Raisin in the morning!

     The lip product I’m adoring right now is by a brand called Malin + Goetz. I was coaxed by the saleswoman to try this 12.00 tube, and well, I'm happy i did! Here is the tube:

Oh..Hello blog. Have we met?

So I'm in a funk right now. A weird woke-up-this-morning-just-cranky-Funk. Not completely sure why. Nothing majah (cue Posh Spice accent) is happening. Maybe that's it. Nothing’s happening. *sigh*

I’m the kind of person who is all about instant gratification. If it makes a difference right now, I'll take it. Sold. Perhaps that was the fun part about joining makeup alley. I saw something i wanted, and BAM!, I sent over a message, and it’s mine. Ooooh the power- I can feel it!

But alas, I believe the novelty may be wearing off. The excitement of jumping out of bed to go check the mail for the bubble wrapped envelope with my name on it just isn't getting my goat these days. Let’s face it, you can only swap so many times before you can honestly take a look at your items and say, “I THINK I have everything I need now.”

Any other swap after that just seems excessive to me. Trust me, I want to become an avid collector, but the realist in me won’t allow it. And I also have a an ever present discomfort of the Post Office lady knowing my name and what business I have doing there. *Hmmm that sentence sounds weird…*

My E.L.F Experience Overall

I have received all of my items from ELF…..finally. I will say that I substantiated my ill feelings about their shipping by staging an experiment. I placed my first order on Oct 7 with regular shipping. On Oct 15, I place another order ( I know, I know), with 3 day shipping.

Here comes the lol’s. I received my three day shipping package on Monday, and JUST received my initial order yesterday. Was I excited? oh yeah. But there has got to be a way to get these shipments out faster.

But anyway, *sigh*, I digress. I will say, that I am having a love affair with some of the products I received; and some I am not. Check my YouTube to see everything I stocked up on!

Also, I am loving Makeup Alley! I know many have had bad experiences with swap lifters on this site. I am still wary of even bidding on EBay, so I understand this completely. However, with two almost three swaps under my wing, I think I’m gonna like this place!

Where the hell are my E.L.F products?!!

Ok so i know i may be jumping the gun here, but i ordered my makeup from the “new and improved” ELF Cosmetics site on the 7th. Is it too soon to become impatient and anxiously await the sound of humming FED Ex tires trucking down my residential street? Alright,, so as I write this, I realize today is only the 11th; and a Sunday to boot.

* deep breath*

Now I feel better. It’s only been three business days! I should at least wait a week right? How has your experience been with ELF Cosmetics?

I've heard they had a horrendously flawed shipping system, and left some waiting for their shipments as long as two months for a lip gloss! I trust that since ELF’s second wind of publicity and popularity, they have upped the anty on their shipping policies.

It was actually YouTube and MakeUp Alley that peaked my curiosity about this brand. Upon looking at the site, i realized it WAS true: Everything ( minus the Studio Line which retails for 3.00- *gasp*), is only 1.00! And with coupon discount codes running rampant on the web, its not all that hard to properly dress your face for under 30 dollars.

And so I'll be here, sitting at my window waiting for my treasures being transported by the big brown truck with no doors… err, never mind. I’ll be watching Bravo :)

Just kidding. Sort of. I feel like lately, i have been looking for any reason in the book to venture outside my home and buy something. Anything. Whatever. I understand making a claim like that leaves me standing on some thin ice. DO i have a shopping addiction? No i don't. DO i have a compulsion with new shiny objects never been used? Perhaps. DO i feel i am missing out if i don't have the latest and greatest things on the market? Yes.

Which leads me to my next challenge: YouTube. Oh how i love thee. So many others so immersed in all things beauty who also feel the urge to share about something they know and love so much. And i, Shavonda, aka TheVonda83, am now a part of this family.

But I'm here. And I'm happy. And I'm sure a blog sale here and there will help supplement my addiction, err, compulsion just fine.
